For all my SoundCloud Sunday Soldiers here’s three….Yes I said three…UNO, DOS, TRES awesome new songs! In this edition of SoundCloud Sunday I’ll also mention my favorite new movie night treat!

Song UNO is off Mikos Da Gawd’s Monogamy EP, “Sparagus w/Tito Tunes,” gives me major chill-mode swag. I love this hip-strumental. It starts with synth licks that crescendo into mad drum beats and hi-hat. This song took me on a roller-coaster ride with peaks, valleys and extreme descents. I still wanted more when the ride ended. Listen and purchase for yourself. (See below)

Song DOS, titled “Wonder Woman,” by Lion Babe is a soul anthem that is sure to be a favorite amongst my fellow “wonder women.” It has alluring vocals, sweet tonage and a vaguely familiar vibe. I would remiss to not to mention Lion Babe’s Erykah Badu-ish sound in certain points of the song. The track brings sunshine to a dull landscape of music currently playing on the radio. She has a bright future ahead! Check out “Wonder Woman!”

TRES…Last but certainty not least, thanks to Les Twins, I’ve saved the best for last. One of my absolute favorite albeit not-so-new songs is “TRNDSTTR” featuring M. Maggie (Lucian Remix) by Black Coast. This song, (breathe) sends my body into ecstasy with the Frou Frou-ish British vocal delivery, hip-hop electro-beat tempo with minor key piano tones, synth breakbeats and the dub-step blast-offs. So sing along, cause “I’mma trendsetter too.”

Now for a trend-setting snack. Looking for a delicious vegan movie treat besides popcorn, well I’ve GOT you covered. My favorite new vegan nacho chip is Beanfields’ Bean & Rice chip. I promise it’s gluten free, no dairy (vegan) has a complete protein and Non-GMO Project Verified.
These are every bit delicious, have 37% less fat with fiber and four grams of protein. If nothing else, give it a shot and happy snacking! (By the way, I am so not getting paid to tell you to try out these chip. That said, Beanfields, if you’re reading this, I’d love for you to sponsor me…)

0Hi All,

It’s sure been a minute since I’ve blogged, especially about a SoundCloud Sunday Pick, so without further ado, let me share with you all my most played SoundCloud Picks of the month.

Ok, so I can’t seem to get enough of Coultrain’s “The Reintroduction.” Yes, this song is currently in heavy rotation on my iPod. STL Producer StoneyRock leads off with a whimsical beat-box, a playful Atari game keyboard sound and what appears to be a quirkily pleasant out-of-tune guitar fingering that is slow and purposeful to the groove. Most importantly, Coultrain serenades us with his soulful-yet-touching vocals. Check it out and let me know what you think by clicking below.

Next is a hip-strumental titled “Porky ( Track & Snacks S1-E3)” by Montreal Producer Shash’U. This amazing beat buster makes me want to be an “MC,” but unfortunately I CANNOT rap. However this delicious pork treat is tasty to say the least with its hip-hop electro beat lead by drums, electronic hi-hats and a distorted vocal loop.  Meanwhile, the break beat leaves you craving for more of this Porky Treat. Check it out here on SoundCloud Sunday

Granny Ginger's OJ SmoothieMost of you know that I choose to eat raw vegan about 90 percent of the time and my favorite part about breakfast is creating and trying smoothie recipes. Now don’t get me wrong, I eat whole fruit for breakfast, as well. That said, today I want to share with you a recipe for a refreshing and delicious fruit smoothie that I can’t seem to get enough of. Be sure that all your produce is organic to get the best taste possible. You’re going to need:

(2) Medium Granny Smith (green) apples.
(4) Navel oranges
(1) Pinky tip size piece of ginger root

Place all the ingredients into a high-speed blender, blend and enjoy!

Now I wouldn’t be River if I didn’t explain to you the perks to this refreshing drink so here we go… Talk about an apple a day. Eating apples daily can reduce harmful LDL cholesterol in the body and comes in many different varieties. (Organic apples are prone to more blemishes than non-organic apples but the taste is far superior. )

Of course oranges are high in an essential vitamin. And what vitamin would that be? Say it with me, “Vitamin C!” Vitamin C is necessary for the absorption of iron and helps strengthen the immune system by aiding and fighting infections.

Lastly, you would be surprised that the funny looking spice called ginger root is equipped with potassium, iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, silicon, phosphorus, sodium and beta-carotene not to mention that it’s packed with vitamins A C E and B complex.

Orange peels can be used to keep mosquitos away. Simply rub the outside part of the orange onto unprotected skin before heading outside.

Ginger roots also can reduce arthritis menstrual pain can treat migraines and control diabetes just to name a few benefits, so don’t be afraid to get your ginger on!

Hey music lovers, SoundCloud Sundays is back with a “hip-hopular” sensation that is irresistible to my iPod.

As of late I’ve been in my Miguel moment so it seems only right that “Simple Things (Girls Vol. 2, All Adventurous Women Do…”) is my next iPod jam! Just the sound of Miguel’s mid-tempo cuts put me at ease and in the mindset of being grown-and-sexy. Much of the song is driven by his lead vocals, a muted electric guitar and synth high-hat. It’s mellow and groove inspiring all in one. The song’s beauty is the simplicity of its production, leaving you wanting to play the track again and again especially when you’re with that significant other. This cozy ambient sound is quickly becoming his signature sound. “Simple Things” lands at number four on my all-time favorite Miguel songs, which are in order:

3. “What’s the Fun in Forever”
2. “Adorn”
1. “Kaleidoscope Dream”

What are your favorite Miguel songs?

I suppose you guys thought I forgot about you or maybe even that I couldn’t find music awesome enough to share.  To that I say “no that’s not the case.”  To be perfectly honest, I had a few glitches arise in my planning of an event.   Since my birthday was in January, I also figured what better time to cut loose from everything.   However, I must admit there is so much music out there in cyber-space, that, as always, I couldn’t figure out which “cut” would make the pick of the week or — as of late, the month.  Needless to say, I made it happen and I’m back with what I think are modest picks but, all the same interesting and a buy essay writing service source link homework revision activity sheet enter site review on buying kamagra oral jelly college essay examples harvard follow url glenmark zetia herbal viagra shop london long until viagra wears off cialis 5mg price viagra mount leonard purpose of a speech abilify side effects drowsiness catchy essay introductions geometry helper homework western culture essay elodea essay experiment method here go here cornell dissertation guidelines source url paper presentation research MUST to share with the core followers of this blog.  So let’s get into it…

Continuing in the spirit of fun and happiness, my first SoundCloud Sunday’s Pick is free-spirited and just an all-around feel good song by Cas Haley titled La Dah from the album La Si Dah.  This song feels so good that it evokes the feeling of a sunny day on a Caribbean cruise while the breeze caresses my face.   Feels good right?  All the same, this reggae soul song is crushing right about now, with its playful lyrics and melodic chorus.  So if you like it, check out the link to the FREE Download.  Just click:

Second up and running is the funk-a-licious sounds of hipstrumental  Funk’Twerk by BMB.  I can say with a straight face that I am not into the “twerk’n” fad but I do find this jam contagious to say the least.  My lower half just seemed to want to sway.  This jam can be described as space-aged, hip-hop, electronic soul heavy on the synths.  I think it’s great study or groove to…

First and foremost, I want to start off wishing each of you a happy holiday season and a fabulous new year!  Speaking of “happy,” I hope that my first song selection will brighten your day just as it does mine and become one of your favorite songs to ring in 2014.  Well…let’s get to it, shall we?

My first and MOST adored selection is the vivacious, catchy and joy-in-a-bottle tune titled Happy by Pharrell Williams.  The organ, drums and vocals all sound like sunshine.  I can’t take full credit for this awesome song discovery but this throwback tune is the theme soundtrack to start my day off  right!  Its infectious 70’s sound gives me genuine happiness.

Next on the ear-gasmic train of sound is the electro-soul stylings of Teresa Jenee’s Tahitian Vanilla.  This little gem features vibrant R&B vocal arrangements over synth keyboards alongside a melodic rap.  It sends a wave of nostalgia through your core sounding familiar and yet brand new all at the same time.   With this new year upon us, as the song says, it’s time to “celebrate this moment of our lives…”

As of late, I’ve had the worst time trying to come up with topics or even video footage to upload to my YouTube channel.  It wasn’t until I took a look at some previous footage that I got the idea to showcase my version of making my favorite crisp and crunchy mixed green salad.  I realize it’s not an earth-shattering recipe but it does show what I’ve been eating so take a look for yourself.

To make this article even more helpful, I’ve taken the extra steps to provide the benefits of some of the fruits and veggies listed in this salad. (See ingredients below)

Ingredients: *Select as many organic veggies as possible to really taste what nature offers.

  • Curly Mustard Greens
  • Dino Kale
  • Curly Kale
  • Collard Green
  • Spinach
  • Red, Green, Yellow Bell Peppers
  • Red Onion
  • Roma Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Lemon or lemon juice
  • Orange Bell Pepper (optional)
  • Carrots (optional)
  • Chile Pepper (optional)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Salad Dressing

The benefits of the above-mentioned ingredients are really the true reason I love this salad.   Many of you may not be aware that collard and mustard greens are not a standard in salads today but I think they add a healthy and hearty taste to the mix.

Speaking of collard greens, they are rich in vitamin C, beta carotene and also contain indoles, one of the phytonutrients thought to protect the body against breast and ovarian cancer.

Spinach is also a cancer-fighting food that has four times the beta carotene than broccoli.  It’s rich in fiber and helps to reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes.  So eating spinach coupled with collard greens will help increase the absorption of vitamin C, especially since spinach contains vitamins C, B6, calcium, potassium, folate, thiamine and zinc.

As for kale, there are so many listed benefits that I cannot present them all in one article.  However, I can state that it is high in vitamins K and A.  Kale is now identified as providing complete support for the body’s detoxification system.

The delicious added bonus of mustard greens to a salad is a wide range of phytonutrients benefits like reducing oxidative stress on cells in the body. This is useful as an added cancer-fighting property.  Furthermore, it’s high in vitamin E.

Whether raw or cooked, onions are antibacterial and antiviral, which helps to relieve bronchial congestion, hay fever and asthma.  Additionally, it fights off colds and combats the formation of clogged arteries.

Lastly,  the great benefit of fruits like tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumber sare interesting to say the least. Tomatoes come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. They are best eaten when fully ripened and provide a good source of magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, beta carotene and vitamins C & E.  On the other hand,  bell peppers contain some B complex vitamins and iron along with other significant amounts of vitamin C.  Cucumbers are a different fruit but offer all your favorite payoffs.   They keep the body hydrated, are great for skin, contain B & C vitamins and help to regulate blood pressure.

So enjoy your mixed green salad!

For those of you that are waiting on a video from me, please accept my sincere apologizes. I will be editing and publishing a video here soon. In the meantime, lately making SoundCloud Sundays picks has been such a pleasure to do that I once again tried desperately to choose one record that I love…  That said I just had to announce two songs in my ipod rotation, so here we go.

I simply could not WAIT to announce  Charlotte OC‘s Colour of My Heart as my  SoundCloud Sunday Pick of the week!! This record is soul-pop awesomeness multiplied by greatness.  The track features a vocal arrangement that calls to mind Kate Bush and a simple ethereal beat that is delightful.  To say it has the feeling of a smash hit is an understatement. My second pick is a remix of Grizzly Bear by Diplo titled Will Calls.  It’s full of fun upbeat synth-pop.  I must admit that I’ve never heard the original version of this song but I find this version infectious and hypnotic with all the great tempo changes that make you want to dance ALL night long. This track has already receive a lot of buzz in such a short amount of time and it’s worthy of being crowned this week’s SoundCloud Sunday co-pick.
